VOLUNTEERISM AT HOLTZ RUBENSTEIN: Partners and staff aiding Long Island charities
July 1, 2002 - - The partners and staff of Holtz Rubenstein & Co., LLP are proud to support many charitable organizations on Long Island, volunteering their time by serving board positions. Many recently have taken on new responsibilities:
-- Audit Partner Howard Weiner has been named to the Honorary Board of the Nassau/Suffolk chapter of the American Lung Association (ALA). The Honorary Board is made up of past presidents and longtime board members of the chapter. It serves an advisory role to the board. ALA fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health.
-- Tax Partner Arnold Haskell is the president-elect of the Suffolk chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA). He also is the new treasurer of the adult board of the Suffolk chapter of the B'nai Brith Youth Organization, which aim is to develop leadership potential, a positive identity, and a commitment to personal development.
-- Audit Partner Andrew J. Vuono has been named to the board of directors of the Advancement for Commerce, Industry, and Technology (ACIT).
-- Tax Supervisor Joel Ackerman is the vice chair of the DFK/USA tax committee. He also is the treasurer of the North Shore Synagogue's Brotherhood, and a member of the board of trustees.
-- Tax Supervisor Brendan Logan is the co-chair of the General Tax Committee of the Suffolk chapter of the NYSSCPA.
-- Audit Supervisor Paul Becht is working with Senior Auditor Harold Deiters as co-chairs of the Young CPAs Committee of the Suffolk chapter of the NYSSCPA.
-- In addition, Not-For-Profit Supervisor Patrick Yu has been named vice chair of the Not-For-Profit/Government Accounting & Auditing Committee of the Suffolk Chapter of the NYSSCPA.
